It's always been about the rhythm. My dad is a Dixieland jazz trumpeter, so I had an early intense exposure to music. Motown was the first type of music I chose to love. In high school, I was in the school band (percussion section), and school steel band for 3 years. After that, I discovered reggae, in particular Bob Marley and UB40. Then about 6 years ago, there was an article in the newspaper about taking steel pan lessons, along with a phone #.....I called, and the rest, as they say, is history.
